That said, it’s a better choice for use in a professional environment, and it’s the only one that can be used on mobile devices. Microsoft 365 has some enhanced features like those additional cloud services and multi-device installations, but it’s more expensive and requires a monthly subscription. The Microsoft Office Business/Professional suites include the same core apps as Microsoft 365, but lack cloud support and multi-device compatibility. There are basically two main products - the standard Microsoft Office and the premium subscription-based Microsoft 365, along with the Personal/Student and Professional versions of these. A beginner’s guide to Microsoft Officeīefore you rush off to buy the best Microsoft Office deal you can find, you’ll first need to decide which particular suite is right for you. Nonetheless, as the most full-featured Office package, Microsoft 365 is hands-down the best choice for professionals, business owners, and other serious users. You’ll pay for the privilege, though: Microsoft 365 is the most expensive of the bunch, and it comes with a monthly subscription fee, too. STAPLES MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 INSTALLYou can install your copy on any Windows PC, Mac computer, or compatible mobile device that you own (or all of them at the same time if you wish). You also get the premium OneDrive and Skype cloud services on top of that, and you’re not limited to what devices you’re permitted to use Microsoft 365 on. This subscription-based suite features everything that Microsoft Office has to offer, including the whole lineup of Office apps along with Microsoft Outlook, Publisher, and Access. Microsoft 365, formerly called Office 365, is the cream of the Microsoft Office crop. The flip-side of that coin is that Microsoft Office 2021 is a “buy once, cry once” affair (once you own it, it’s yours), whereas Microsoft 365 has a monthly subscription fee. ![]() STAPLES MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 UPGRADEFor that, you will need to upgrade to Microsoft Microsoft 365. STAPLES MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 LICENSEAnother thing to bear in mind is that your Office 2021 license only allows you to install it on one Windows or MacOS computer at a time - no other devices are supported, and neither are multiple installations across several devices. The standard Personal version features Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as its core apps while the Professional version features the same core apps as Microsoft 365, but note that it lacks cloud services like Skype and OneDrive (however, you can get basic versions of these programs for free). Microsoft Office 2021 is the latest iteration of its classic Office suite. So always standalone for me! I don’t need/want all the latest features just a stable stand alone product that doesn’t need to talk to its maker in order to work. STAPLES MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 FOR WINDOWS 10Combined with my dislike for Windows 10 in general I dumped both and went back to Office 2007 and Windows 8.1 Pro.īefore that I used to use Office 2003 on Windows XP Pro, loved that Office shortcut toolbar placed at the top of the screen for easy access to favorite programs! Think I still have the CD for it somewhere, I do know still have XP on hand and would probably still be using it on an old laptop if it were not for needing the enhanced HDMI audio support that’s only available with Windows 7. But that was a big mistake as it always had a process running in the background that is basically a link to the Microsoft mother ship and makes Office dependent on an Internet connection. Tried Office 2016 Click-to-run briefly when I used Windows 10 due to a heavy discount on it from my employer. Say what you will, that feature is something that I refuse to do without. Both LibreOffice and MS Office lack the “Reveal Codes” feature that WordPerfect has. God only knows what it’s also doing as it runs there, unattended. I refuse to have a module running in the background that allows for quicker startups of the program. Not only that, but it takes forever to start and often locked my computer up. I’ve tried LibreOffice, but it’s way too much like MS Office. STAPLES MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 TRIALOne of the first things I do on any new computer is to uninstall the trial version of MS Office if it’s installed. Now that I’m retired, I wouldn’t touch Microsoft Office with a barge pole. I’ve even been forced to use the program in workplace environments, have on at least two occasions convinced my employers that WordPerfect was a better program. I’ve periodically tried to use Word and have always walked away detesting it. I can remember the tricks that Microsoft used to establish their user base, which was to force new computer companies to include it on all new computers they sold. I’ve been using WordPerfect as my word processor since version 5.1 for DOS.
